Goal: To improve health and Health education through primary and preventative health programs
Major Activities of Health Program are: Clinical Support, House Visit, Immunization, Health Awareness Meeting, Pregnant women check up and distribution of Iron / Folic acid tab, Health awareness Camp, Sterilization and distribution of family planning material, Networking for health facilities, Special Cases, Health Staff Training etc.
A: Clinical Support: During this program year (April 2005 to March 2006) there were total 9360 patients attended our several UCP clinics and got treatment in the comparison of last program year (April- 2004 to March-2005) where a total number of 9576 were checked up and provided medication by WLC Doctors. At present, 4 Doctors and 2 Midwife are working at WLC UCP project areas. The total number of UCP sites is 15 where Health program is running.

Most frequent patients are those who suffer from fever, cough, Diarrhea, Asthma, Low backache, Avitaminosis, Vomiting, Common cold, Traumatic injury, Arthritis, Running ear, Watery eyes, gastrointestinal disorder and Stomatitis.
The direct benefits of health program to the communities
are:
" Availability of primary healthcare facility at all UCP sites. This
not only saves the money of community members but also avoids any complicated
diseases.
" Health awareness meetings and health awareness camps provides them
the information regarding the diseases, its cause , symptoms, where to go
for free or economical treatment and the most important part is that how to
prevent the ailments.
" Awareness among Community members about health and hygiene.
" Community members understand the need and importance of immunization
to children, Adolescent girls and pregnant women. Community members are being
linked with government Immunization program to avail the free facility of
Immunization.
" India is a country with population more than 1 billion. The population
is increasing day by day.
The need and importance of Family planning is being taught to the beneficiaries
through health awareness meetings and health awareness camps. Community members
are being linked with government Family planning program to avail the free
facility of Sterilization and family planning means.
B: House Visit: During the period of 2005-06, a total number of 3455 House visit was done by WLC doctors in the UCP communities. The objective of house visit was to follow up of patients, to observe overall cleanliness inside and outside the home, to provide education on population, clean drinking water storage, to invite the patients at health clinics and to invite the community members in the health awareness meetings.
C: Immunization: An Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) from the government hospital comes to WLC health centers to immunize the children, pregnant women and adolescent girls. WLC Doctors work to link the government immunization program with the project areas. Vitamin 'A' doses are collected from the government hospital and provided to children.
D:Health Awareness Meetings:
" Health awareness meetings are the major part of WLC health program.
WLC doctors regularly arrange health awareness meetings at all the UCP sites.
Some times the number of meetings affected by marriage and crops season.
" A combined total of 300 Health awareness meeting were held in the period
April 2005 to March 2006.
" The health awareness topic was Antenatal and Postnatal care, Diarrhea
and ORS, Malaria, Cholera, Nutrition, Adolescence, Family Planning, Water
and sanitation, HIV/AIDS, Pregnant women and newborn care, Female diseases
and Tuberculosis respectively in the month of April, May, June, July, August,
September, October, November, December, January, February and March respectively.
" Most participants at health awareness meetings are adult females, followed
by adolescent females. The numbers of Males are very less.

E: Pregnant women check up and distribution of Iron/Folic Acid tabs: During the period April'05 to March'06, 190 women were registered for their check up. They were arranged for Tetanus toxoid injection and Iron /Folic Acid tabs. Out of 190 pregnant women, 29 were referred to hospitals for the delivery. A total of 2455 women were distributed Iron/Folic Acid tabs including pregnant women. See Table 1.
F: Health Awareness Camps: Three health awareness camps were held
this Year
H: Networking: A Total of 77 networking sessions took place this year.
Important networking sessions included free Iron /folic acid tabs, ORS, C.D
Cassette for health awareness, consultation for health awareness camps, medication
and family planning devices.Through the Primary Health Center (PHC), and free
health education materials.
